Buoyancy & Trim Lab

Weighting check, hover drills, body position. The foundation everything else sits on.

Duration
1-2 days
Group
Max 4 divers
Where
Šibenik, Brač and Tisno
A diver hovering in trim over sand

Most buoyancy problems start before you get wet: too much lead, kit in the wrong place, a body position nobody ever set up. This lab starts there. We check your weighting, fix your trim at the surface and in the shallows, then hover with you until staying still stops being work.

Who it's for

  • You hold yourself in place with your hands, or scull to stay still.
  • Your depth profile looks like a saw blade: up, down, up.
  • You touch your inflator more often than you would like.

What you'll work on

  1. 01A weighting check at the surface and again at the end of the dive
  2. 02Trim: where your lead and your cylinder actually sit
  3. 03Hover drills at fixed depths, then while doing tasks
  4. 04Breathing as a buoyancy control, not only as gas

Before you come

  • Any recreational certification, from any agency.
  • Bring your own kit if you have it. Habits live in your own equipment.

What's included

  • Coaching in the water with an SDI instructor
  • Underwater video, reviewed together afterwards
  • A short list of what to practise next
